All frequently asked questions
- What does Rident actually do?
- Rident is a technology company with two divisions. Rident Labs builds software web apps, mobile apps, ERP and POS systems, and automation. Rident Studio builds brand and marketing identity, content, digital marketing and SEO. Most clients need one; some need both, and both come from the same accountable team.
- Can I work with just one division, or do I need both?
- Either. Many clients start with one service and add the other later; some engage both from day one. You choose what fits your project, and there is no penalty for using us for only half of it.
- Do you work with businesses outside Sri Lanka?
- Yes. Rident is based in Sri Lanka and primarily serves the local market, but we take on regional and international projects as well. We work across time zones by keeping a fixed weekly demo and a named contact you can always reach.
- How big is the team, and who will I actually work with?
- Rident is a seven person team across engineering, design, business analysis, consulting and client success. The people who scope your project are the people who build it there is no handover to a delivery team you have never met.
- What is Unify?
- Unify is Rident's own software product, currently in a paused development phase while client work takes priority. We are being upfront that it has no launch date. You can register interest and we will tell you when that changes.
- How long does a typical project take?
- It depends on scope. A brand identity project may take a few weeks, a website one to three months, and a custom software build typically runs several months. We give you a specific timeline in writing after the discovery and requirements stages, not before.
- What does your delivery process look like?
- Nine stages: discovery, requirements analysis, strategy and planning, UI/UX design, development, testing and QA, deployment, training and handover, then support. You approve scope, timeline and cost before design starts, and see working software at every cycle after that.
- Can you work with our existing systems?
- Usually, yes. Most projects involve integrating with accounting software, payment gateways, CRMs or legacy databases already in use. We audit what you run during requirements analysis and tell you honestly what can be integrated and what is better replaced.
- Do you take over projects another developer started?
- Sometimes. We start with a paid technical audit of the existing code and infrastructure, then give you a straight assessment of whether continuing or rebuilding costs less over the next two years. We will not pretend a rescue is simple if it is not.
- Do you offer ongoing support after launch?
- Yes. Post launch support is part of our standard process for both software and branding engagements, covering bug fixes, security updates, performance monitoring, hosting and enhancements. You get a named contact reachable by email, phone or WhatsApp.
- How is pricing structured?
- Pricing depends on project scope and is quoted after an initial consultation. We do not publish flat rates, because software and branding projects vary too widely for a price list to mean anything. What you get is a fixed written quote before work starts.
- What engagement models do you offer?
- Three. A fixed scope project with a fixed price; a monthly retainer of set days across development, design or marketing; or a support agreement with a guaranteed response time for a system already live. Many clients move from project to support after launch.
- Is the discovery consultation free?
- The first discovery conversation is free and carries no obligation. Deeper requirements analysis process mapping, technical audits, documented specifications is paid work, because it produces something you own and can take elsewhere if you choose to.
- Who owns the code and design files?
- You do. On final payment, source code, design files, accounts and infrastructure transfer to you in full. We do not hold your assets hostage and we do not licence you your own product. Specifics are set out in your contract.
- Will you sign an NDA?
- Yes, and we are happy to sign yours rather than insisting on ours. Confidentiality applies from the first conversation whether or not paperwork is in place, and detailed terms live in your client contract rather than on this website.
